International satellite providers shuns...

International Satellite, Providers of Free-to-Air and Ppay television platform, which include HISPASAT, EUTELSAT and NileSat worldwide, have rejected the proposed Biafra Television Free-to-Air, scheduled to start transmission on January 15, 2016.

Sources at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and High Frequency Coordinating Conference (HFCC), have reportedly confirmed the development.

The rejection and cancellation of the contract for which no reason was given, is said to have created major problems for pro Biafra groups, whose media and propaganda structure was severely crippled by an earlier takeover of the 15560KHz -19 metre band shortwave by the federal government about two months ago.

Following the rejection, IPOB Media Manager in Australia, Mr. Austin Ofomah, expressed regret at the action  of the satellite providers.
“The spirit of Biafra cannot be defeated,” he said in a statement. What the federal government is doing is against international broadcasting convention on the right of free expression, he added.

The success of the federal government effort is largely due to the role of the National Security Adviser (NSA), General Babagana Monguno, whose discrete contacts and reach, have shut the pro-Biafra groups in international scene.
