But Mourinho and Rodriguez are both represented by super agent Jorge Mendes.

And it’s claimed the influential fixer can help smoothen out a passage for Rodriguez to United.

Mourinho is also understood to be eyeing moves for Juventus star Alvaro Morata and Napoli hitman Gonzalo Higuain.

Spanish newspaper El Pais claimed earlier this month that the charismatic boss has signed a pre-contract agreement to replace Louis van Gaal.

But United will reportedly have to shell out compensation if they decide not to appoint him.

If a deal isn't done before May 1, the Premier League giants will have to pay the former Blues boss a staggering £5m.

And if he's still not signed by June 1, they will have to hand Mourinho another £10m.
