Troops arrest 15 suspected cattle rustlers

Troops of the One Division Nigeria of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies have arrested 15 suspected cattle rustlers in the North West.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Tuesday that the troops also recovered 1,307 livestock from the rustlers during an operation, Operation Sharan Daji,  against the cattle rustling, banditry and criminality in the zone.
Usman said that the troops of the One Division’s Internal Security Force recovered 108 livestock and killed one of the armed bandits in Kaduna State.
He said that the soldiers also recovered one AK-47 rifle and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition from the bandits.
Usman said that soldiers of the 3Brigade, recovered 419 livestock and killed a bandit who was carrying a locally made pistol in Zamfara State.
He added that the 3Brigade elements also recovered 677 livestock and destroyed 10 camps of the of the cattle rustlers during a similar operation in Kano and Katsina states.
He said that the troops who killed four of the suspected cattle rustlers also recovered four locally made pistols and seven Dane guns from the bandits.
According to him, 14 of the suspected cattle rustlers were arrested.
He said that the ongoing operations were designed to ensure complete eradication  of ‘the menace of cattle rustling, armed banditry and other criminalities in the North West geo-political region of the country.’
