Teacher 'became pregnant by 13-year-old pupil'

A teacher who allegedly got pregnant after having sex with her 13-year-old student has been arrested.

Alexandria Vera, 24, an English teacher at a school in Houston, Texas, is accused of having a sexual relationship with the student since last September.

The English teacher handed herself into police on Wednesday and was charged with child sex offences.

In court documents, the teacher described details of the relationship and claimed that the boy's parents knew and were even supportive.

Initially she believed the boy to be rude, but then contacted him using Instagram.

During their first "date" the pair allegedly "drove around" and kissed in a car, according to court documents.

In October, she met the student’s parents and was later “introduced as his girlfriend.”

She said the parents were “accepting of their relationship" and were even "very supportive and excited" about her pregnancy.

The teacher said she and the student “had sex on almost a daily basis at her home,” then she would drive him to his house to catch the bus to school.

She eventually decided to have an abortion after becoming questioned by child welfare officers.

She has been sacked from her job, according to officials at her school.
