As Muslims in Nigeria join their counterparts the world over to
mark this year’s Eid-el Kabir, the President of the Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. (Dr) Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, has
called on them to continue to pray for peace, unity and progress of the
country.
His Sallah message on Sunday reads in part: “The President of the
Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. (Dr) Samson Olasupo
Ayokunle, on behalf of all Christians in the nation, felicitates with
the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR),
the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar and all Muslims
in Nigeria over the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
“Let us seize this opportunity to pray for peace, unity and
progress of our fatherland, President Buhari and the government of the
day to be able to lead us to better days ahead. We should also seize the
opportunity to share the love of God with one another and be at peace
with one another.
“We pray that the joy of the celebration shall endure for you all.
May the spirit of the season enlarge your capacity to treasure our
relationships and secure for us all a prosperous, safe and more secured
Nigeria founded on love and sacrifice”.
He further urged them to look unto God for provisions despite the economic recession.
“Though we are in a trying time economically in Nigeria, you must
all have the trust that the same God that provided a ram for Abraham in
the barren desert is going to provide for you and meet all your needs,
not only in this time of celebration but beyond.
“If you cannot afford to celebrate with what you desire this year,
trust God that next year would be better. May a better Nigeria where
things work well as we have in the developed nations be experienced by
all of us.”
