Plateau United FC of Jos on Monday said it had signed 15 new players to strengthen its team for the 2016/ 2017 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). The club’s Media Officer, Albert Dakup, said in a statement in Jos that the new players included three goal keepers, six defenders, two midfielders and four strikers. “The goalkeepers are Ajiboye Oladele, John Gaadi and Shuabu John, while the defenders are Okene Elijah, Ozor Chinedu, Okoro Obasi, Kabiru Ayinda Papa Idris and Sinbat Adam. “The midfielders are Chima Ndukwa and sadiq yusuf with Akombo Ukei, Musa Adamu, Emanuel James and Peter Moses as strikers,’’ the statement said. It added that the players were signed from different clubs and football academies. It said the club would round up its two weeks closed camping in Abeokuta on Tuesday ahead of the commencement of the league. The statement said that the team would wrap-up its camp with a friendly match with a yet-to-be named team. It said the club’s Technical Adviser, Kennedy Boboye, expressed satisfaction with the qualities of the players in the team. Boboye joined the team in November, following the voluntary resignation of former Head Coach, Zakary Baraje. The Jos-based side finished eighth on the 2015/2016 league’s log. The statement, however, said its target was to secure a continental ticket in the 2016/2017 season.
