Police discovers decomposing body of DPO after 12 days of kidnap in Delta

The Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of the ‘C’ Division, Asaba, SP Valentine Mbalu has been murdered by his kidnappers.

Mbalu was taken hostage for 12 days by suspected Fulani herdsmen between Ekwoma and Umunede along the Benin/Asaba/Onitsha expressway on March 6.

It was gathered that the decaying corpse of the DPO was found in Umunede bush on Friday.

A Fulani who sells water Mellon at Abraka has since been arrested in connection with crime.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the development, said the police in the state were still in search of other suspects involved in the crime.
