Lagos landlady pours hot water mixed with pepper on tenant

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 30-year-old landlady, identified as Oluwatoyin Adeleye, for allegedly pouring hot water mixed with pepper on her tenant.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused who resides at Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, is facing a count charge of inflicting injury, of which she denied.
Ayorinde said that the accused unlawfully inflicted wound on one Mrs Justinah Julius by pouring hot water mixed with pepper on her body, NAN reports.
“She said that before she came out of her room the accused had gone. She went to the accused’s room demanding for her shoe, but an argument ensued which resulted in a fight.
“The accused ran inside the kitchen, carried the boiling water on fire and emptied it on her body, which resulted in scalding her skin.
The offence, he said, violated Section 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned to February 13 for mention.
