Following the capture of drug lord El Chapo, the DEA have set their sights on the ‘ghost woman’ from Colombia.
With manky vest-wearing Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Lorea or ‘El Chapo’ behind bars, the US Drug Enforcement Administration’s most wanted slot is up for grabs.
It’s believed that Maria Teresa Osorio De Serna, a Colombian woman wanted on suspicion of money laundering and cocaine conspiracy, will be boosted up to the top spot.
Not a lot is known about De Serna, hence her nickname the ‘Ghost woman’. But she has other, more subtle alias – including Maria Teresa Correa, Gloria Bedoya and Iris Conde.
The DEA describe her as Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes and an image reveals her distictive cheekbones.
It’s believed she was born between 1945 and 1950.
De Serna faces no charges in her native Colombia, but officials in the US want to track her down for her connection with the Medellin cartel.
It’s believed that she’s laundered millions of dollars for the Medellin cartel, which gained nortoriety thanks to the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar.
Escobar controlled a drug empire from Colombia.
He was responsible for smuggling enormous amounts of cocaine into the US until he was killed in 1993.
De Serna’s role within the cartel is not known. It’s thought the DEA have very little reliable information to track her down, thanks to her multiple identities and evasive lifestyle.
Her last known address was in Florida, but her current whereabouts are unknown.
