Cinnamon Nicole has been criticised after setting up a ‘Powerball reimbursement fund’ on GoFundMe
A Tennessee lottery player who failed to win aworld record jackpot sparked anger online by setting up a ‘Powerball reimbursement fund’.
Cinnamon Nicole set up the controversial GoFundMe charity page claiming she had run out of money after splurging it on lottery tickets for the $1.6 billion lottery jackpot draw.
Nicole, who has since claimed it was all a joke, managed to raise $800 (£560) through the site before it was taken down by GoFundMe and attracted a barrage of criticism.
“Please help me and my family as we have exhausted all of our funds. We spent all of our money on lottery tickets (expecting to win the 1.5 billion) and are now in dire need of cash,” she explained.
“With your small donation of at least $1.00, a like and one share, I'm certain that we will be able to pick ourselves up from the trenches of this loss and spend another fortune trying to hit it big again! PLEASE, won't you help a family in need. DONATE NOW.”
